Ron Sheveland, like many of the characters he writes about, is a tad quirky — okay, more than a tad. His offbeat sense of humor and story-telling skills have often entertained (and occasionally alienated) friends and audiences. He is an avid church man — so, lest you think he is ridiculing the peculiarities of typical churches, you would be wrong. He just thinks it’s healthy to “laugh at ourselves.”

Ron was nurtured in a godly home that modeled love and service for the Lord Jesus Christ.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior as a child and  later, at a bible camp,  surrendered his life to full time Christian service.  As a teenager, he was already active speaking at camps, churches, and vacation Bible schools.  At age 18, when he entered Cornerstone University, he became a youth director at Dalton Baptist Church in Muskegon, Michigan. In the years since he has pastored churches in Michigan, Colorado and California. And for ten years he was the director of an association of churches called the Michigan Baptist General Conference.

Currently, Dr. Sheveland is the director of I-Training (, a ministry that allows him to train church leaders around the world through international teaching trips and internet resourcing. The proceeds from his book sales go to that ministry. He also serves the church as a published author, church consultant, preacher  and conference speaker.  He is a graduate of Cornerstone University (B.A.) and Denver Seminary (M. Div. & D. Min.).

Jesus Christ is the joy of his life.  In Ron’s words, “It is my passion to know God better and share that knowledge with others.” Family is his next priority. Jodi and Ron treasure their relationship and work hard at keeping it fresh. They are partners in all their life endeavors – including ministry.  They have been blessed with two teenagers: Luke and Jessica.
